The Best Sustainable Cleaning Supply Companies 2021

It's been a while (like three years!?) since I've talked about my favorite sustainable kitchen products on the blog. Since then, a lot of innovative products have come onto the green cleaning scene. In this post, I showcase all my favorite low-waste, non-toxic or plant-based kitchen cleaning supply brands!

PUR Home

PUR Home is a cleaning supply company that specializes in non-toxic, plant-based, sulfate-free and cruelty-free ingredients. I love that their kitchen products are refillable (less plastic waste! yay!) and that they're committed to getting involved in their community's sustainability efforts. PUR home is also owned by two black women, so you can feel good about your social and environmental impact when buying PUR Home.

Blueland

Another sustainable, female-owned cleaning company, Blueland has super innovative and exciting products. Their primary focus is reducing plastic wastes, and they've done a fantastic job of accomplishing this goal. From powdered dish soap to tablet hand soaps that dissolve in water, their products represent the future of low-waste cleaning. With Blueland, you'll never have to throw out a plastic cleaning bottle (or even buy bulky liquid cleaning products!) again.

Veles

Veles is a unique up-and-coming cleaning company that uses food waste to make an all-purpose cleaner. Yes, you read that correctly; they extract water and active ingredients from food waste to create a spray cleaner. Of course, I love their commitment to using food waste, but I ALSO love their streamlined inventory. They only sell two products — a bottle of cleaner and a refill bottle! This simplified shopping experience emphasizes our need to cut back on consumption and shows how much research they've invested in this single product.

Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day

You know her and you love her; Mrs. Meyer’s is a long-standing brand in the sustainable kitchen space. They offer refillable surface cleaner, hand soap, and dish soap bottles in all kinds of delicious scents (I adore all things "Fresh Cut Grass"). Mrs. Meyer’s is one of the most affordable brands on this list, and you can find it in most chain grocery stores. Mrs. Meyers has really been a leader in making sustainable products accessible for everyone.

Seventh Generation

Seventh Generation is another sustainable powerhouse that's been fighting the good fight for decades. Seventh Generation is one of my go-to brands because they're a B Corp that advocates for social and environmental sustainability (think: expanding renewable energy while also amplifying black voices). Their products are refillable, mostly plant-based and packaged in recyclable materials. What's not to love?

Grove Collaborative

Grove Collaborative is a sustainable product subscription company that also has its own line of products. In their shop, Grove sells many of the brands on this list (hi, Seventh Generation and Mrs. Meyers!) alongside its own products. Their product line specializes in sleek and timeless refillable containers, refill packs in lightweight plastic, and concentrated "just add water" cleaning solutions. Grove also plans to be 100% plastic-free by 2025, which is a major environmental win.
